Labels, Labels, Labels...

Don't make yourself just like everybody else...

Why is it that in high school, everyone has to have a label? I mean, after all, we're not cereal brands or cans of soup...so why? I'll tell you, because without labels, people feel uncomfortable..they feel like they don't belong. Everyone may think that they're different from everybody else and there is no label out there that could possibly fit them, but that doesn't mean the person that sits next to you in algebra hasn't found a label to categorize you under. We're teenagers, we're all awkward, we're all self-conscious in some way, and every single one of us has a label. Whether you're a prep, a jock, an emo kid, a nerd, or a country-bumpkin...you've got a label. So why do we all spend our time in high school trying to fit in? Because when you narrow it down like this, we're all the same. The snobby varsity cheerleader may have more in common with the band geek then she does with any of the other cheerleaders. The star-football player could secretly be wondering what it feels like when the skater dude lands an ollie. Honestly, what's the point of trying to stick with your "crowd"? Because after high school, none of that's going to matter...seriously. Think about it, its common sense. If you want to be like the can of Ravioli sitting on the shelves at Wal-Mart, that looks exactly like every other can of Ravioli sitting on the shelf, keep giving out labels. Make yourself EXACTLY like everybody else. Boring.
